I just hate raining on other people's parades, but you guys are right. If something's running as production, it shouldn't be in development.

I don't want to harp on the guy, but the website does says very clearly on the main page: "Book & Brier Patch Launches New Website! Apr 8, 2005"

...Maybe "Launches New Website!" really means "Ugly-ass non-functional site"...

That's ridiculous.
If its in beta, and "a few months away from release" - then mark it as such. Google was in "Beta" for a few years! Nowhere on the main page do I see any reference to it being "unfinished".
Why was said developer so defensive? If its on the internet, its live, and viewable by the general public. Saying that its "unfinished" doesn't excuse the poor design, and your opinion is therefore valid and perfectly justified.
If I posted on my blog that "Windows sucks", then a loyal, supportive Microsoft employee could respond, "Its under development and nowhere near release." Why? Because there's a new version of Windows in the pipeline? We'd never be allowed to say that "Mac OS X has horrible design" then (assuming it were true) since the code is obviously "unfinished"; a new version is coming out soon.
Aidan, if its "not finished", then time will tell. No need to backpeddle on your original opinion.

Quite true that it has potential, but how very strange that B&BP employee would track back to the blog to check up on things here.... I suppose having "blog" in the referrer makes it slightly more interesting than most.

sidenote: i had to turn referrers back on cause wordpress won't work without them. :(
