Ah, the sweet innocence of youth

I googled my name today, as I am wont to do. This time was different, though, there was a link I’d never seen before that came up. It’s an email that I wrote for something called Kidlink, whatever that is. Here it is in it’s unedited glory:

Name/Age/Gender: Aidan Reid Findlater, 10, Boy

1. Who am I?

I'm interested in martial arts (I'm taking Tae Kwon-Do) and writing.I'm
going to take up modeling (planes, ect...), I collect pennies, especially
old ones.
I like to take bike rides and to explore new places. I like playing
Advanced Dungeons and Dragons. I also like reading anything and everything,
especially fantasy books.
I like using the computer, even though my parents complain about the
amount of time.

-
2. What do I want to be when I grow up?

When I grow up, I'd like to be either a writer, or a spy(free agent).

-
3. How do I want the world to be better when I grow up?

I'd like people to try harder to save the environment. People should
also treat eachother
better, and through these things we just might be able to save the
earth.

-
4. What can I do now to make this happen?

I could try to influence peoples behaviour through my books if I
became a writer. And I could do small things right now like recycling.

This isn’t something that I would consider writing today. For one thing, I’m mostly grow’d up and I’d say there’s very little chance of me becoming either a writer or a spy. As for my views on the environment, I still recycle, but time has tempered my idealism.

When you’re a kid, the world’s full of endless possibilities where anything can happen. As you grow up, you realize that the way things are is mostly the way they’ve been, and that change is difficult and slow.

*Sigh*
