QMO Retreat

I had an amazing time this weekend bonding with QMO travellers and exec. Some activities: trust games, a morality “game,” Mafia (!!), broomball (more on this later), and general fun.

I’d like to highlight broomball. This was my first time playing, and it seems like it’s almost exclusively a Queen’s thing; I had never heard of it before coming here, and neither had most people. What is it, you ask? Well, it’s more or less field hockey played on ice with no skates. A lot of slipping, sliding, falling, and shin hacking. Wheee!

In other news, I’ve applied to nine SWEP jobs. There are a few of them that I’m really, really interested in doing; I only hope that my retardedly short cover letter conveys that. I was in a bit of a time crunch since I only started looking at them last Thursday, discovering that they had to be in on Monday (today). Since I was gone all weekend, I rushed through and got them all applied to on Friday. Hopefully I’ll either be working SWEP or NSERC, but I still haven’t gone to see the profs I’d like to do NSERC with. Soon, soon…

I have another squash partner now on top of my weekly Danielle-date. Hopefully that means I’ll get better twice as fast! Muahaha!

In other unrelated comments, I’m really glad that I have good friends. You make the hard times easier.
