My first academic failure

It’s the end of the year and I’m checking my marks on QCARD only to discover that I’ve failed a course. That’s right, failed. Only, it’s a course I wasn’t in. I dropped it in the first week of winter semester.

That was yesterday. Today I checked QCARD again to realize not only that I am registered in a course I didn’t take, but I’m also not registered in a course that I did take. It’s the course I added to give myself a full courseload, and I quite clearly remember adding it.

I have to write an appeal to the Associate Dean (Studies) with supporting evidence and permission from the instructors. The admin assistant assures me that since I’m a good student it shouldn’t be much of a problem, but it’s still a stress I don’t need.

There are two possible reasons for this: either QCARD screwed up (maybe the IT guy restored from a backup without telling anyone), or somehow I managed to not notice that my adds and drops didn’t go through. Essentially, either it’s a shite application, or it’s a shite interface. Me, I think it’s both. Yes, I’m bitter.
