- MySQL installation on Mac OS X makes me happy
Mad props to MySQL for providing their software in PKG form for Mac OS X (now all they need is an appcast). However, they note in the readme:

Not only is my bill exhorbitantly high (I’m somehow using as many kilowatt-hours as a family of four), they sent my a letter saying that I also owe arrears. I’ve received exactly two bills from them: one was paid long ago, and the other is due August 9th.

As reported in the New York Times and Think Progress, NASA has changed their Mission Statement to remove “to understand and protect our home planet.” This was ostensibly done to align it to Bush’s goals for space exploration. Of course it has nothing to do with global warming. That’d just be silly.

I had rotting flesh in my house. No, seriously. My freezer stopped freezing on Wednesday, and the 20-odd chicken legs that consequently defrosted were thrown out and forgotten. Since then my house has been pretty much taken hostage by a rotting putridity and its guardians flies.
