I had the displeasure of using software installers twice in as many days, both of which were created with Zero G’s (now Macrovision’s) InstallAnywhere. I hate their installers.
They shouldn’t install shortcuts for you. This just screams, “This wasn’t made for the Mac, and we don’t care.”
