Domain Registry of Canada scam
I got a letter from these guys a while back. They look official, imply that you’re already using their services, and ask you to pay ridiculous sums of money to “renew” your domain name with them. I was confused, but since all the DNS I handle is through other companies, I ignored it.
As it turns out, I’m not the only one to be confused, they send these to a lot of people (see here, here, and here). They’re trying to trick people into unwittingly transferring their domain them, which costs about four times as much as most other DNS services.
Verdict: If you get one of these letters, just ignore it — they’re trying to trick you.
Sketchy people.
