  • Uninvited StatCounter script in Wordpress

    Summary: I found uninvited StatCounter HTML in my footer. Delete the theme’s functions.php file and remove the call to credits() in the theme’s footer.php, or redownload directly from the template’s creator (or some reputable website).

  • NewsFire to Vienna

    NewsFire doesn’t alert me on error. Vienna does.
    Vienna seems to have tweaked the UI a little since I last tried it, and it’s working fine for me. It might not be quite as pretty as NewsFire, but at least I know when there’s a problem with one of the feeds.

  • GSIV and the Python Imaging Library dying on large image

    Summary: The GSIV tilemaker.py script dies when attempting to create a large (16384×16384) blank PIL Image object, simply saying “Killed“. The only solution I’ve found is to resize the image to below 8192×8192 before running the script.

  • Trail map ‘07

    Thanks to the Giant Scalable Image Viewer, I sliced, diced, and uploaded the topo for the trail Drew and I will be hiking this year. It’s like Google Maps, only for the topo.
